The best way to describe
Senate Masonry, Inc., is "Generations
in the Making."
The company was established
in 1979, but its roots run much deeper.
Founder Everett T. Greenstreet, Jr. is
the third generation in the Greenstreet
family to embark on a career in the masonry
industry.
Furthermore, his sons Everett
III and Shane have now become the fourth
generation of Greenstreets to follow in
the family tradition.
You could say that with
the Greenstreets, masonry is a way of
life.
How
It All Began
Shortly after the
Civil War, the Greenstreets of Essex county
Virginia headed north to the city of Washington,
D.C. in search of a better life.
In 1900, Temple Greenstreet
(Everett Jr.'s grandfather) went to work
as a bricklayer. Through the years he
developed into an accomplished mason and
had his sights on a brighter future.
In 1917, Temple Greenstreet
opened up a masonry business called TB
Greenstreet and Sons.
Through the Great Depression
and World War I, Mr. Greenstreet continued
to develop his business as he built buildings
around the D.C. area.
His
son Everett came into the work force and
developed the same passion for his father's
trade. A few years later in the 1950's,
Everett started his own company, Congress
Masonry Inc.
The company would carry
on for the next two decades as the Greenstreets
continued to leave their mark on our nation's
capital.
It wasn't long before Mr.
Greenstreet's son, Everett Jr., began
to take an interest in his father's endeavors.
After apprenticing in the
bricklayers union and mastering his skills
as a bricklayer, Everett Jr. would embark
on the same journey as his forefathers
did before him.
In 1979,
Senate Masonry, Inc. was established.
While
the names have changed over the years,
the tradition has continued.
Four generations,
86 years, and millions of bricks and blocks
later, the Greenstreet love for the masonry
trade continues.
Four Generations
into the Future
While much has changed
since T.B. Greenstreet laid his first
brick in 1917, our goal is to continue
on in the same spirit of our forefathers
before us.
One brick at a time,
conquering every challenge before us,
we invite you to join us on our remarkable
journey. |
